GIS allows pipeline operators to identify High Consequence Areas (HCAs), track inspection coverage, visualize corrosion anomaly locations and manage integrity management program data spatially. Regulators increasingly expect operators to use GIS-based systems to document and demonstrate compliance with PHMSA integrity management requirements.
